Schools We offer cross curricular sessions, themed days and after school clubs for children of any age, involving hands on practical activities and learning. We also offer team-building, bushcraft, camps/overnights and staff training. We welcome groups to our site in East Devon which offers tranquillity, diversity and has great potential for fieldwork. We also come into schools to lead activities with groups of children or, in some cases, the whole school. Please scroll down for more information and to see some feedback that we've been given. |

Theme days / nature days. Examples of themed days that we've done for primary school groups include The Wind in the Willows, explorers, Australia, the rainforest and owls. We plan activities to fit the theme, with risk assessments and in some cases instructions so that your staff can lead activities as part of a circus. If you suggest a theme to us, we'll do our best to come up with something! |

Owls day This includes dissection of wild barn owl pellets, a presentation on British owls, visual aids and follow-up work. It draws in many Biology topics from KS2 and KS3 including adaptation and competition, feeding relationships, diet and digestion, respiration. We can adapt our provision to suit your requirements. |

Field work and overnight. Our site is very suitable for fieldwork investigations, and we can work with you to plan and lead this. Our springline mire is on a gradient; plants of particular interest that are found there include sundew, butterwort, bog asphodel, bog myrtle, orchids and ragged robin (see pictures at the foot of this page). Our site also includes wild meadows, wet and dry woodland, a large pond and the Madford river. Our "Wildside Overnights" give children a wonderful opportunity to get close to nature and to encounter nocturnal wildlife. They will learn a lot without realising that they are "being taught"! "An understanding of the natural world and what's in it is a source of not only a great curiosity but great fulfilment." David Attenborough |

Some feedback we've had... What a brilliant and informative day. The children (and the teachers!) learnt so much about owls. We thoroughly enjoyed dissecting the pellets and were amazed at the number and variety of bones we found. Thank you so much, we will be talking about the day for a long time to come. Staff and pupils at St. Margaret's Junior School, Exeter. Many thanks for planning and running such a well thought out educational experience today. You listened carefully to our thoughts and ideas, and produced a specialised, informative day that clearly reflects your talent and passion for sharing the joys of nature with others. Your wealth of knowledge enriched the learning for pupils and adults alike. Everybody learned something new and had fun doing so! We will definitely recommend you to other schools and colleagues. Staff and pupils at Burlescombe CE Primary School. I really enjoyed today. Best school trip ever! Year 3 pupil at Rockbeare Primary School after a rainforest day. An interesting and thoroughly enjoyable experience. The activities were fantastic for the children and a challenge to all ages. The spirit, respect and teamwork skills gained by the children will be an asset to them. A brilliant opportunity and experience. Teaching assistant, Uffculme School (Secondary) . |
